Man's Best Friend - Digital Love Series - # 7 What a story. I traveled all night, Friday it was, to get my wife a Valentines present. I had planned it for weeks and after work I headed out. From Tennessee, I traveled to mid Arkansas and met the people at a McDonalds late night. She was a beauty, had picked from the hundreds offered and I love her at first site. Here name was Eurika and she was a pint sized Italian Grayhound. She was beautiful in every way but, she had issues that were noticeable from the start. I did not question, she was so sweet, placed here in the car and traveled the 14 hours home. I was so proud and the joy I seen on my wife's face made it all worth wild. It was only thirty minutes when that the joy turned to one of the worse days I have known. With out much more that a yep, our little girl had broken a front leg. She suffered that leg until Monday, no one would help her until then. She has surgery and a small plate was installed in a leg not larger than a pencil. Six weeks she wore the cast and two days after her cast came off, she broke the other leg. What no one knew, she had brittle bones due the in-breeding of her kind. She was to be a pup and yet the doctor told me she was six months old. She never grew, remained pup sized and full grown, she is six inches tall. She has a place in both our hearts that few can go. God gave us her, knowing she would need the love that we had. I think she blames me, she looks at me always, just sitting and looking. Her eyes cut deep and I do feel her question and yet, she loves me like a dog never has. She is loyal to my wife, loves her and it is obvious that they have a bond but, she tucks her head under mine at night and falls to sleep peacefully. This piece represents the love we have for man's best friend and the love my wife and I have for Eurika. Steven
